Teen Driving
Contract
Commit to Safe Driving
Automobiles are the leading cause of death among
teenagers between the ages of 16 and 19 in
America. One out of every four teens will have
an automobile accident in their first year on
the road.
When parents establish a driving contract
with their teenager they are taking the first
step in preparing their child for the risks
associated with driving an automobile. Setting
expectations and guidelines can lessen the
chances of an accident, teach a teen to
appreciate the privilege of driving and
emphasize how to respect other motorists and
passengers.
A teen's attitude toward driving may be the
single most important factor in determining his
or her risk level on the roadways. A driving
contract can help establish the right attitude.
