Facing the Consequences
–
One careless move behind
the wheel of an automobile can have very serious
consequences. In many cases, a car crash that
results in serious injuries or the loss of life
can send a driver to prison, even if it was just
an accident.
For Stephen Bromstrup, a
newly licensed driver in Florida, the
consequences of causing a crash that killed two
innocent teenagers included a seven-year prison
sentence.
Stephen was showing off to
friends by driving his car at an excessive rate
of speed. He lost control of the car and slammed
into another car killing two young girls and
seriously injuring another. His friends were
also injured in the collision. He was 16 at the
time of the crash.
Fatal crashes like the one
described above kill more than 4,000 US teens
every year. Many of the drivers are serving
prison sentences similar to the one being served
by
Stephen Bromstrup -
